The 29 best hotels in Kansas City

Undoubtedly the best place to stay in Kansas City is in the center of the city, for its skyscrapers and Art Deco buildings, and for being very close to the vibrant Power and Light district (known as “P & L”), a lively area full of bars, restaurants, shops, theaters, and cinemas.

Also, on your visit to the center, you will see the Sprint Center, where the city’s most important concerts are held. Do not forget to visit the Union Station where you will have a lot of things to know, such as the planetarium, the museum of old trains and other attractions. And finally, say goodbye to the city with a beautiful view from the top of the Liberty Memorial tower.

Downtown Kansas City, the best place to stay in Kansas City

One of the main advantages of staying in the center of Kansas City is the enormous ease with which it is possible to get around all the city areas on foot or by public transport. The Kansas City Trolley has 16 stops throughout the city, providing easy access to all significant neighborhoods of interest. The KC Downtown Streetcar’s departure line, which runs approximately two miles north-south, runs from the River Market to the historic Union Station, traveling down Main Street. Stops include the Central Business and Convention District, Power & Light District, and Crown Center, not to mention the many businesses, restaurants, art galleries, and residences you might see or visit along the way. Best of all, riding the Kansas Streetcar is free for all riders.
On the other hand, if you plan to travel by car through the center, there are about 40,000 parking spaces in the middle of Downtown, so it will be pretty easy to find places to park. Although the Kansas airport is a 17-minute drive from the city center, it is worth staying close to the city’s activities to enjoy what it offers. Such as its trendy bars and restaurants of Power & Light, attend the many events at the theaters or the stadium, and visit the main enclaves of cultural interest.

Country Club Plaza Area

Country Club Plaza offers 15 blocks with endless shops and restaurants. Here you will find the most exclusive shops and some of the best restaurants in Kansas, although the lively center is more recommended for enjoying the nightlife. In addition, there are events, art fairs, or gastronomy throughout the year, and it is a good option whether you are traveling as a family or as a couple.
With a calmer atmosphere than the city’s epicenter, the Plaza Area has lovely parks like the Loose Park Rose Garden. There are some trails where you can breathe fresh air around you, and places like J.C. Nichols Fountain or Mill Creek Park offer excellent views from some of the best hotel rooms.
Getting to the center from the Country Club Plaza Area is quick and easy using public buses or the tram, and there are plenty of public car parks in the area where you can leave your car for free and safely.
