What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of New York? Those panoramic photos of the city views! Whenever I travel to the city, I pass by one of its fantastic rooftop bars and lounges, but for a special occasion, what could be better than staying in one of New York’s hotels with the best views?
Seeing the skyscrapers and buildings that have made New York famous from the window of your room is undoubtedly a unique experience. Look at the horizon, free your thoughts and enjoy the unique atmosphere of this city. Although not all the rooms of these hotels have panoramic views (someone always gets a room on the first floor), most of them have Rooftop Bars from which to enjoy the show with a drink or even take a bath swimming pool.
During our last stay, we made our dream come true and enjoyed the view over the Hudson River from The Standard High Line, a unique view of the High Line Park and One World Trade Center. I have to recommend it; it is spectacular to go to bed and wake up with such a unique vision.
Once in a lifetime, it is worth pampering yourself and enjoying views like this. For this reason, we have compiled this list of the best hotels with views in New York. I hope you find it helpful!
In this article, you will find two types of views. First, Midtown Manhattan hotels with views of Midtowne city’s rooftops offer a unique and unforgettable way to see New York. But we have the hotels that, from the opposite side of the river, offer views of the most epic New York skyline that we have seen so many times in the movies. These are the hotels that currently offer the best views of the city!
1. Hotel Brooklyn Bridge
Five stars | Right between two of New York’s hottest districts, Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights, we find the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge. The hotel’s structure is a tribute to the area’s past and industrial history and creates an environment of welcoming and modern design. Especially popular with New York celebrities and artists, this hotel is an ideal environmentally conscious lodging and an unbeatable location for your New York sightseeing.
2. The New Yorker – A Wyndham Hotel
Four stars | We have added this hotel to our list very recently as it has been chosen as the favorite of our followers on Facebook. The New Yorker Hotel is ideally located, just 34 blocks from the Empire State Building and one block from Macy’s shopper’s paradise in Herold Square (here’s our guide to New York Shopping). In addition, from the rooms, you can enjoy great views of New York from above.

Four stars | This beautiful hotel is in the Gramercy of New York, very close to the Empire State Building. It is super stylish and has a gorgeous rooftop bar and terrace, from where you have a sensational view of the city that never sleeps.
4. Yotel Times Square
Three stars | The YOTEL in Times Square is an excellent example that a designed hotel with good views in New York does not have to be very expensive. The rooms are furnished in a modern style with a Scandinavian influence; we like it a lot as it gives me peace and tranquility. In my opinion, the Yotel is highly recommended. This hotel is one of the most popular in New York, not only because of its rooftop bar with a view of the skyline but also because of its great financial value.

Three stars | Another excellent option for anyone looking for a great hotel around One World Observatory is the Courtyard by Marriott. The elegant Courtyard by Marriott New York has a restaurant, a bar, and free Wi-Fi in all areas. In addition, all rooms at this hotel are air-conditioned and equipped with a flat-screen TV with cable channels.
Situated just 322 meters from the World Trade Center, you couldn’t be closer to some of the city’s hotspots. From here, you can enjoy breakfast with One World Trade Center views. What more can you ask for in a trip to New York?
8. Mandarin Oriental Hotel
Five stars | The Mandarin Oriental is almost certainly the hotel with the best views over Central Park and Columbus Circle. This luxury hotel is a fantastic mix of Asian and classic styles. The rooms have been beautifully furnished and have huge windows facing Central Park. You will not know how to choose between a room facing Central Park, one with views of the George Washington Bridge, or the Statue of Liberty. Although they all have one thing in common, looking through their windows makes you feel like you’re in a movie.
9. Hotel Equinox
Five stars | The Equinox Hotel at Hudson Yards is one of the newest and trendiest hotels in New York, and we were lucky enough to stay there for two days on our last visit to the city. The highlight (apart from such a hotel’s luxuries) are the bar and the rooftop terrace with views of the Hudson River.
10. Hotel 50 Bowery
Four stars | Hotel 50 in New York’s Chinatown is a stylish boutique hotel with a pretty rooftop terrace and modern rooms. It’s right in the center of the action, with the Lower East Side, East Village, and Soho all within easy walking distance.
11. Hotel Indigo Williamsburg Brooklyn
Four stars | From the same family as the Hotel Indigo on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, we find this other accommodation in Williamsburg (Brooklyn), just as elegant, clean and modern. As a strong point, the outdoor swimming pool on the roof and a beautiful terrace where you can sunbathe stand out.
12. Hyatt Centric Times Square New York
The Hyatt Times Square New York probably offers the best view of Times Square and midtown Manhattan. Lively, colorful, and always something to see, you can enjoy the show and observe the chaos of the city from the comfort of your room. The rooms are furnished in a modern and modern way and are very cozy; they will make you feel at home. The hotel is divided into 54 floors and has only 11 spacious rooms per floor. In addition, it includes a private Bar on the 54th floor (rooftop) that allows you to enjoy a privileged view of the East River and Hudson River. In case it’s cold, you can access the Lounge with a panoramic view and fireplace or relax in the hotel’s wellness center. This accommodation deserves an extra point because some rooms have a private balcony from where you can see the city.
13. MADE Hotel
Four stars | The MADE Hotel is in the heart of Midtown and is one of the best places to stay in this neighborhood. The hotel offers an unbeatable combination; it is modern and gingerly designed with lots of plants and green areas (which adds to its unique atmosphere). As the icing on the cake, it has a rooftop bar called “Lounge Good Behavior” with an unforgettable view of the city.
The Empire State Building is just three blocks away, Washington Square Park and Union Square are within walking distance, and many of New York’s top attractions can be reached on foot from here.
14. Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza
Four stars | The Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza, better known as the “ONE UN New York”, is one of the hotels with the best views and one of the few that allows you to see the East River and the Chrysler Building or the Empire State Building at the same time. You can also see the new viewpoint, “The Summit.”
As the name suggests, it is located next to the UN building on Murray Hill. A quiet location, surrounded by nice cafes, bars, and restaurants. I like staying at Murray Hill because I feel like a real New Yorker.
15. Pestana Park Avenue
Four stars | In our opinion, the Pestana Park Avenue is one of the most excellent hotels in Murray Hill – its rooms are pretty large by New York standards. Moreover, they are very comfortable, pleasant, and modern, and some even have a balcony with views of the city and, hopefully, the Empire State Building. In addition, This hotel is brand new, so the furniture, from the lobby to the terrace and the rooms, is state-of-the-art.
Attractions like Bryant Park and Grand Central Station are just a few minutes away, and you’re in the city’s heart!
16. The Peninsula Hotel
The Peninsula, New York hotel, has to be on any list of hotels with a view of New York. The hotel is in a privileged place in the city and allows you to enjoy the views of the New York skyline fully. It is located on 5th Avenue at 55th Street, and you can feel the city’s heartbeat from its rooftop. The view is great during the day, but even better at night, when you can see the hundreds of yellow cabs that move through the illuminated Midtown to the rhythm of the traffic lights. You can enjoy the show from your room or the wellness center that offers the same views. The Peninsula also has a small rooftop bar, Salon de Ning, where you can enjoy a drink over the rooftops of New York.
17. Sheraton Tribeca New York Hotel
Four stars | The Sheraton Hotel in Tribeca has bright, clean, and large rooms. It also has a roof terrace from which you can enjoy the view of the city. This is the ideal hotel if you like to be in the center of life but appreciate a good night’s sleep.
18. Sixty Les Hotel
Four stars | The highlights of the Sixty LES are the rooftop pool, gym, and spa area. The elegant rooms have large loft-style windows.
Tip: When making your reservation, ask for a room on one of the upper floors, and with any luck, you’ll get a great view of the Empire State Building.
19. The Hoxton Williamsburg
Four stars | To me, the Hoxton in Williamsburg is one of the most excellent hotels in New York. From the rooftop bar, you have privileged views of the Manhattan skyline, and the rooms are tastefully decorated. I’m sure you’ll feel at home here!
20. The Refinery Hotel
Four stars | We highly recommend the Refinery Hotel in Midtown – it’s in an ideal location (just two blocks from Bryant Park). It has one of the city’s most relaxed and friendly rooftop bars (overlooking the Empire State Building), and the rooms are large and well decorated. I am sure you will feel at home!
21. The Setai Fifth Avenue
Five stars | The Setai Fifth Avenue in the Empire State Building, formerly called “The Langham,” is a luxury hotel with excellent service, ideal for romantic trips. This hotel is located on Fifth Avenue, the most popular area of the city, a few meters from emblematic places such as the Empire State Building or Bryant Park. It also has excellent public transport connections to reach the main points of visit in the city.
The rooms are modern and large, and sports fans will love the hotel’s well-equipped gym. The hotel also has a restaurant that has been awarded a Michelin star. In short, the ideal accommodation for travelers with a high budget who do not want to skimp on anything.
22. The Standard Hotel High Line
Four stars | This is our personal recommendation; we recently stayed at this hotel just above the High Line and loved it. It’s in the trendy neighborhood, the Meatpacking District, and offers an exceptional view, stretching from the Hudson River to One World Trade Center. Spectacular is, without a doubt, the panorama that can be seen through its large windows during sunset. The hotel also has an excellent restaurant and a semi-open terrace, The Plaza, where they serve “Focaccia” and “Burrata.” However, for my taste, the best view is the one from the room’s bathroom. I never thought I would take a bath looking at the New York Skyline.
23. Dominick Hotel
The Dominick is a super nice hotel in New York’s Soho. It is the tallest building in Soho, so it has a great view of the city. We decided to stay here for a few days at the end of my road trip across the US. The pool is not big, but it was our favorite.
24. Gansevoort Hotel Meatpacking District
Five stars | The Gansevoort Hotel in the Meatpacking District is just one block from High Line Park and is famous for being frequented by many celebrities. It also has a private pool on its roof, with views of the rooftops of New York, a real luxury. Sit by the pool and enjoy the best sunset you can imagine. Thanks to its particular orientation, you can admire the fantastic sunset over the Hudson River daily.
25. Trump International Hotel & Tower
Five stars | The Trump International Hotel is directly on Central Park and Columbus Circle. The panorama seen from its windows, from the ceiling to the floor, is impressive. From these vast windows, you can capture the unique atmosphere that New York exudes, especially in the late afternoon, when you can relax in bed and enjoy the city’s lights. The hostel has two restaurants and a wellness center of 6,000 square meters. If you want to combine luxury and views over Central Park, you must stay at the Trump International.
26. M Social Hotel Times Square New York
Four stars | The M Social Hotel Times Square New York has been recently renovated, so it offers very modern and elegant rooms with views of Broadway, Times Square, or the Hudson River. In this hotel, you will always be in the center of the New York atmosphere, but even with this central location, the rooms are perfectly isolated and allow you to rest optimally. A few minutes from the hotel, you will find the main tourist attractions of the city, such as the Rockefeller Center with its panoramic platform “Top of the Rock” and the best Broadway theaters to attend the most famous musicals in New York.
27. The Standard East Village
Four stars | The Standard East Village belongs to the same family as The Standard High Line and is just as stylish and friendly. However, what sets The Standard at East Village apart is its beautiful design in light, calming tones, and the beautiful view from your room. Unlike many other hotels in this category, the rooms are relatively spacious, and the large windows allow you to see the city in all its splendor. If I had to find fault with this hotel, it’s that the closets are a bit small, but nothing too serious.
The East Village location is perfect for those interested in discovering Manhattan’s dining scene and nightlife.
28. The Nolitan
Four stars | The Nolitan Hotel is a small, friendly boutique hotel in Little Italy. I especially like two things about this establishment: that it is furnished in a very light, clean, refreshing, and bright way, and that, from your balcony, you can see the Empire State Building and the Williamsburg Bridge. Likewise, you can visit the One World Tarde Center from the lounge bar on the top floor.
29. The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park
Five stars | The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Battery Park offers arguably the best view of the Statue of Liberty, the harbor, and the Hudson and East Rivers. It’s located on the edge of Manhattan, directly on Battery Park, and will make you feel like you’re on the water. If you want to enjoy the Statue of Liberty on the horizon, you must request a room that expressly indicates it since not all of them face the same side. Nevertheless, the view over the water is phenomenal, very relaxing, and reminds you that Manhattan is an island.
30. Aloft Long Island City-Manhattan View
Three stars | This Aloft hotel is right next to Hyatt Place in Long Island City and, as its name suggests, has a beautiful view of Manhattan with its iconic Skyline. But, of course, if you don’t have a room on the upper floors to see the sights, you can always enjoy them from the hotel’s rooftop bar. The Aloft is our top tip for those looking for an affordable alternative to midtown Manhattan accommodations, but one that’s well-connected by subway to the city’s main points of interest.
31. Hyatt Place Long Island City
Three stars |This Hyatt Place is one of the nicest hotels in Long Island City and has excellent views of the Manhattan Skyline. The rooms are bright, large, and well decorated and even the bathroom is ample. Undoubtedly a highly recommended hotel with a great connection by public transport with the main points of interest in Manhattan.
