Many guests found the hotel worth its hefty price tag; during our visit, it was fully booked. On the Amalfi Coast, Santa Caterina Hotel and Le Sirenuse are the only comparable properties.

The 57 spacious rooms are stylish and individually designed, with free minibars, free Wi-Fi, and terraces with sea views. In addition to exceptional service, the hotel offers a Michelin-starred restaurant, an elevator to a private beach and a daytime restaurant, a small spa and fitness center, an infinity pool, and a tennis court next to a lawn where activities take place, like yoga. The downside is that it’s not within walking distance of town, but a free shuttle can take guests 24/7. For a downtown luxury hotel, consider Le Sirenuse, though it lacks a beach and isn’t as quiet.

Luxurious and romantic, the Monastero Santa Rosa is an upscale boutique hotel with spectacular ocean views, a high-end spa, an outdoor pool, a small fitness center, and casual dining on-site. All rooms and suites offer sea views, and some have large terraces. Although some past guests have mentioned wanting more variety in the restaurant, the hotel overall does an excellent job of creating a delightful experience for guests, so long as you can afford the high room prices.

Of the three high-end hotels in the vicinity, the Covo Dei Saraceni is the only one on the beach with a pool overlooking Positano Bay and the spectacular Amalfi Coast. Crowds on the beach and boats headed to and from the nearby ferry dock can be a bit noisy, but rooms are generally relatively quiet, and many come with private hot tubs and two balconies. Exploring the ancient cliffside city involves an uphill hike, but the return trip is always downhill. There are three restaurants (including a bistro with delicious pizza) and an ice cream parlor, and though the Covo may be the most expensive hotel in the area, many guests feel it’s worth it.

Villa San Giacomo

Featuring a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, shared lounge, garden, and free WiFi, Villa San Giacomo is located in Positano, 200 meters from Spiaggia Grande and 350 meters from La Porta Beach. It offers family rooms and a solarium. The accommodation features a shared kitchen and a concierge service for guests.

All rooms include a wardrobe. Private bathrooms are outfitted with bidets, bathrobes, and slippers. Accommodations at Villa San Giacomo feature air conditioning and a safe.
